Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry Limited was incorporated in Hong Kong in February 1998. Since its establishment in June 1998, Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry Ltd (HKKF) has dedicated to the development of ferry transportation and become one of the licensed ferry companies in Hong Kong . Although its main business at first was limited to the route between Central and Tsuen Wan, HKKF innovatively became the first ferry company to use catamarans within the waters of Hong Kong . At that time, the Hong Kong government happened to open the ferry market for public biting so as to end the monopoly situation and improve the service quality. With its outstanding service plan, HKKF successfully won the license in the bit to operate ferry routes between Central and Lamma Island . Hence its business was drastically expanded.

Besides the chartering service for our normal ferry routes, we can provide chartering service to any outlying islands and areas within the waters of Hong Kong. The rent can be calculated based on distance or time. Welcome to use our chartering service. Hire Terms and Conditions | 1. | Upon confirmation of a booking, 50% of the total hiring charge is required as deposit. Balance must be made in the form of cash or cheque before the deadline indicated. Under no circumstances should the confirmed order be cancelled except inevitable factors such as war or government law. No cancellation is allowed due to rainy weather. | 2. | The length of the renting time will be measured exactly according to the contract. During the voyage, if the hirer wants to return earlier, no compensation will be made for the remaining time left. If additional hours are required, the owner will decide the case based on the time and the overall operation schedule at the moment, and reserves the right to refuse. If there is no negotiation about the payment for additional hours in advance, the payment will be calculated based on the ratio of the rental and time in the contract. | 3. | In the absence of the hirer for more than two hours after the fixed departure time without any reason to inform the owner, the booking is deemed as automatic cancellation, and no refund will be made to the hirer. | 4. | The number of passengers stated cannot be exceeded. The coxswain reserves the right to refuse extra boarding passengers. The shipping line is restricted within the waters of Hong Kong only. | 5. | In case of the foul weather or for the safe reason, the owner has the right to choose the safety line and port for landing. | 6. | The renting time will be calculated from the time when the vessel is at the port including the time waiting for the boarding position, and ends when all the passengers get off with all their belongings. | 7. | The hirer is liable to the damage of the vessel facilities by his/her companions. The equipments should be operated only by the authorized personnel to the instruction of the user"s manual. The hirer should bear all the responsibilities financially and legally for the damage of the equipments or the casualties caused by their violation operation. | 8. | In case of engine failure or unexpected operation hazards before the launch, the owner will notify the hirer immediately for postponement or replacement with other vessels of the same class or refund of the full payment. No compensation of any kind will be made for any reason. | 9. | If engine fails during the launch, passengers will be taken back to the nearest pier with best possible arrangement. If half of the hiring hours have been fulfilled or the vessel has reached its destination, no compensation will be made. Refund on a pro rata basis or an alternate service day would be made at the discretion of the owner. | 10. | Although the owner has purchased the relevant insurances in relation with the Hong Kong laws, passengers should take care of their belongings themselves. The owner is not liable to the case of larceny but will help the passenger concerned call for the police. However, if any accident happens due to the carelessness of the owner and causes any injury to the passengers, the hirer can claim for a compensation for the loss according to the articles of the insurances. | 11. | Agreement Concerning Cases of Weather and Typhoon: | a) | If Typhoon signal No.1 or red rainstorm signal is hoisted before the launch time; or 2 hours before the launch time, higher Typhoon signal is reduced to Typhoon signal No.1 or black rainstorm changes to red rainstorm, the launch has to be resumed. During this period, the hirer should keep close contact with the owner. Postponement is allowed at this period. However, the new departure date and time will be decided based on the owner"s operation schedule. | b) | If typhoon signal No.3 and black rainstorm signal is hoisted during the launch, according to the Regulation of Sailing and for the safety reason, the coxswain will have to take the hirer back to the pier immediately. No refund or time compensation will be made. | c) | Upon hoisting of typhoon signal No.3 or higher and black rainstorm signal within 2 hours before the launch, the launch service will be automatically postponed to another weekday that is available. The hirer should bring the receipt to the owner"s office for endorsement within one week, or it will be nullified and no refund will be made. | d) | If vessels cannot pick up passengers at the designated pier and has to change temporarily to another pier, the hirer should follow the directory of the owner to the new boarding place. | | 12. | If cancellation or alternation of booking date occurs, food and beverage arranged have to be collected by the hirer at the pick up point and the full amount agreed must be paid. | 13. | The owner obeys the Hong Kong Laws as well as the principle of “Warm and Sincere Service; Fair and Reasonable; Reputation First”. The aim is to provide safety and smooth service. |
HKKF TRAVEL LTD, a subsidiary of Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry Ltd, was established in September 2001. With her business expansion, in June 2003, HKKF TRAVEL LTD. was granted the license (No.176) by China National Tourism Administration to become one of the 179 authorized travel agencies in Hong Kong for receiving inbound tour groups from Mainland China . The history of HKKF TRAVEL LTD is short but dramatic. In the spring of 2001, Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry Ltd. was invited by Hong Kong Tourism Board to organize package tours for foreign tourists during Cheung Chau Bun Festival. Unexpectedly within two days, all the seats of our tour vessel were fully booked. The package tour was so successful that it brought us a good reputation as well as an inspiration for us to enter the travel industry. Thereafter, HKKF TRAVEL LTD was established based on the initial tour development department of Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry Ltd. Our basic local package tour called Outlying Islands Escapade is specially designed for the Westerners. The main scenic spots include Cheung Chau and Lamma Island . Besides, we are the most experienced tour operator and organizer for the Cheung Chau Bun Festival that is to be held on April 8 th (the lunar calendar) each year. Victoria Harbour occupies an area of 60 square kilometers and is one of the three best natural harbours in the world; the other two are San Francisco and Rio de Janeiro . Hong Kong "s most important asset, after its people, is its magnificent deep-water harbour, one of the world"s busiest harbours in terms of vessel, cargo and passenger throughput. It handles about 90% of the territory"s trade by weight. Moreover, Victoria Harbour is also the venue for grand celebration and sightseeing. Every year on the second day of the Chinese New Year and on the 1 st of July, the handover day of Hong Kong and 1 st of October, the national day of China , Victoria Harbour will be closed temporarily for firework display. On special occasions, additional pyrotechnics will be featured. This show which is a splendid attraction featuring one of the world"s most spectacular harbours is organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Commission at 08:00 pm and lasts about 18 minutes. The narration of A Symphony of Lights will be broadcast live along the Avenue of Stars in three languages: English (Monday, Wednesday and Friday); Putonghua (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) and Cantonese on Sunday. | |

Located at the centre of Central District, Pier 4 is a three-storey concrete building with a height of 10 metres. The pier is opposite to the Kowloon Peninsula across the sea with its southern side linking with the Hong Kong Island and the other three sides facing the Victoria Harbour . It is close to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre at east and the Sun Tak Centre and Macau ferry Terminal at west. Although it is just over 13 square kilometers (five sq mi), Lamma is rich in green hills and beautiful bays. But because of its rugged terrain, there is only a very small area of farmland. Rocky and bare hilltops dominate the island"s grassy lower slopes. Archeologists have associated it with some of the earliest settlements in Hong Kong . Lamma is an island devoted to fishing, with a population of around 8,000 people. Among them are a surprising number of Europeans, who value the peace and quiet of the rural lifestyle of Lamma, which like several others of the outlying islands has no cars. Although the island has a regular ferry service, it has remained relatively undiscovered, much to the joy of those who have moved out to its peaceful ambience. Yung Shue Wan Yung Shue Wan ( Banyan Bay ), at the north end of Lamma, is one of two ferry gateways to the island. This village, popular with expatriates trying to get away from the noisy crowds of Hong Kong , has a number of restaurants and bars. Its narrow main street is lined with shops and fresh seafood stands. Following the main street through the small village, it is only a short stroll out into Lamma"s empty countryside. Sok Kwu Wan Sok Kwu Wan lies on the eastern shore of a long fjord-like inlet known as Picnic Bay and is the Lamma village closest to Aberdeen . It is the haunt of Hong Kong "s ¡§Weekend Admirals¡¨ or ¡§Saturday Sailors,¡¨ the nautical names given to the colony"s pleasure-junk captains. Picnic bay is brimming with floating fish and shrimp farms, all tended by a picturesque fleet of assorted boats of various sizes and ships. The nautical products, fresh as can be, of the seafood industry find their way to markets and tables throughout Hong Kong . As can be expected from a fishing village, Sok Kwu Wan also has its own 150-year-old Tin Hau Temple . Sok Kwu Wan bustles with a long string of seafood restaurants, even more charming in the evening when each establishment tries to out-do its neighbour with bright lighting displays and the marvelous aromas of fresh-cooked fish, shrimp or prawns, lobster, shellfish, and other seafood. | | Lamma Island, the third largest island after Lantau and Hong Kong Island, occupies an area of 13.47 square kilometers. In ancient times, it used to be named as ¡¥Po Liu" or ¡¥Po Liu Chau". Lamma at present is divided into north and south sections in administration under the Lamma Island (North) and (South) Rural Committees. Besides, Po Toi Island nearby is also part of Lamma. The north section consists of 12 villages such as Yung shue Wan, Yung Shue Long, Tai Wan San Tsuen, Tai Wan Kau Tsuen, Sha Po, Wan Long, Ko Long, Tai Yuen, Tai Peng, Pak Kok San Tsuen, Pak Kok Kau Tsuen and Lo Tik Wan. While the south section has 7 villages such as Sok Kwu Wan, Mo Tat Wan, Mo Tat, Yung Shue Ha, Lo Su Shing, Luk Chau and Tung O. Most of the residents of Lamma are descendants of Chan, Chow, Ng, Fong and Tsang families originally from Canton . Yung Shue Wan and Sok Kwu Wan are the regions where residents live in compact communities, while there are a few residents living in the southern part ¡V Tung O and Yung Shue Long. Since the construction of piers at Yung Shue Wan and Sok Kwu Wan in 1960s, ferry transportation has made it more convenient and attractive for local people and foreigners to visit or even settle down there. Thus Lamma has become an island mixing the Chinese and Western cultures. The power station of the Hong Kong Electric Co. Ltd built in 1978 is the largest industry of Lamma. The historical relics unearthed in Lamma Island are older than those from other outlying islands and other regions of Hong Kong . They can be traced back to from the Neolithic Age to Western Han period and taken as the evidence that there were human habitation at Lamma as long as 5,000 years ago. Lamma Island has become the most famous place for archaeological studies in Hong Kong or even the whole South China area. After the Opium Wars, although Hong Kong Island , Kowloon and New Territories were ceded to Britain , Lamma was still under control of China until 1898 when the Convention between Great Britain and China , Respecting an Extension of Hong Kong Territory was signed, Lamma was put in the domain of British Hong Kong colony. Generally speaking, because of the inconvenience of communication, Lamma developed slowly after the World War II. Besides the power station of the Hong Kong Electric Co. Ltd, one can hardly find any tall or historical buildings there. Therefore, its original natural environment has been well reserved to make it an ideal scenic spot. | | Tin Hau Temple at Yung Shue Wan Dedicated to the Queen of Heaven and the goddess of the sea, the 100-year-old temple is guarded by a pair of stone lions. Inside, behind a red spirit stand (to deflect evil spirits), is the main shrine with images of the beaded and veiled Tin Hau. This temple serves as the main temple for the people living in the north section of Lamma. Sha Po King Palace In the Sha Po Village at north section of Yung Shue Wan, there is a temple named ¡§ King Palace ¡¨, also called ¡§ King Temple ¡¨. Inside, the King of the Three Mountain is consecrated. The temple is one of the four of the same kind remained in Hong Kong . Chan"s Old-Style Family School In Tai Wan Village at the north section of Lamma, there is an old-style family school of Chan "s Family. It was built in 1921. Besides its school function, it was also the place for worshiping Chan"s ancestors. Tai Wan is the only village with family temple in Lamma. Tin Hau Temple at Sok Kwu Wan This temple is the main temple for people who live in the south section of Lamma. It has a history over 150 years. Lamma Power Station Lamma Power Station is the power station of The Hongkong Electric Company, Limited (HEC). The power station provides electricity supply to Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island . It is located at a 50-hectare site at Po Lo Tsui at Lamma, which was gazetted and granted by the Hong Kong Government to the company in September 1978. The main generating units at Lamma Power Station are basically designed for 100% coal firing. To maintain the flexibility in fuel selection, capability for oil firing has been catered for. Advanced technologies for environmental protection include the Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) System to remove sulphur dioxide (SO 2 ) emissions as well as the fitting of low nitrogen oxide (NOx) burners to Units 6-8 to reduce NOx emissions. In addition, high efficiency electrostatic precipitators, have been installed in all generating units to remove more than 99.5% of the fly ash from the flue gas.
