Hong Kong OKs Plan To Build Its Section Of High-Speed Rail LinkThe Hong Kong government said Tuesday it approved a plan to build the Hong Kong section of a high-speed railway linking the city to Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

The government said in a statement it expects the construction cost of the Hong Kong section, which will be about 26 kilometers, to be HK$65.2 billion. The entire railway will be about 140 kilometers long.

The government said it plans to seek approval from the Legislative Council for funding soon.

The statement didn't say when the railway will start to operate.
