The Hong Kong government said Tuesday it approved a plan to build the Hong Kong section of a high-speed railway linking the city to Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The government said in a statement it expects the construction cost of the Hong Kong section, which will be about 26 kilometers, to be HK$65.2 billion. The entire railway will be about 140 kilometers long. The government said it plans to seek approval from the Legislative Council for funding soon.
