The family of a 15-year-old girl who died in a freak go-kart accident in Hong Kong said Friday they were "devastated" by her death.
Amy Rose Coxall, an international school student, was strangled Wednesday when her scarf got caught in the wheels of the kart at a track in the city's New Territories.
The accident has sparked calls for tighter go kart safety rules in the city of seven million, a former British colony handed back to China in 1997.
Her family said the girl would be buried in a private ceremony and asked that they be "left in peace at this most difficult time".
"Sean, Joanne and 17-year-old Joshua are devastated at the sudden death of Amy, their beloved daughter and sister," said a family statement.Copyright © 2010 AFP. All rights reserved.
