Prachanda secretly meets Chinese officials in Hong KongNepal's Maoist chief Prachanda made a sudden visit to Hong Kong and secretly met key Chinese officials "to lobby for dismantling the
present dispensation" in the country, a Nepalese daily has claimed.

The daily 'Sri Commander' claimed that Prachanda had gone to Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China, on a four-day visit to meet high-level Chinese officials.

Prachanda had air dashed to Hong Kong, close on the heels of the visit of foreign minister Sujata Koirala to China, the paper said, where she had blamed "the Maoists' irresponsible activities" for the stalled peace process and the constitution drafting in Nepal.

The Maoist leader secretly met important officials from China "to lobby for dismantling the present dispensation," the paper said.

Confirming that Prachanda had gone to Hong Kong, the Maoist party spokesman Dinanath Sharma said his visit was entirely personal and he had met his party's supporters there.

Talking to newsmen at the airport on Thursday, Prachanda dismissed reports that he met high-level officials from China in Hong Kong.

He, however, told reporters: "It is obvious to meet few Chinese officials in Hong Kong".
