Friday, Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department announced that the index of consumer prices or CPI rose 0.8% year on year in February, slower than the 3.1% rise the previous month. Economists were looking for an increase of 1.2%. On a seasonally adjusted average monthly basis consumer prices fell 0.2% in the period December to February. The underlying inflation rate stood at 2.1% in February, after 4.5% in the previous month. |
